More Shopping!

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I went shopping in Jackson Hole recently and came home with some unique and fun items. While shopping, I noticed something I hadn't seen before. One or more of the shop clerks was using a cordless barcode scanner. I guess it is easier to use them, or maybe they are cheaper. Not sure why they would be using them. I guess you could take it from check out counter to check out counter, so that certainly makes sense. I don't work in a store so I am not sure what the latest in retail development is.

Wifi Everywhere!

I have to admit that I love wifi. I am so spoiled now. I sit at a computer at a desk while at work, but once i am done there, BAM! I want my wireless. I can't imagine having to sit at a desk at home to use my computer. Of course, I use my computer so much at home, that would be impossible to sit all day and all night at a desk. Also, I love going into Starbucks and other places and using the wifi. Really allows the mobile work life. Now I hear there are even wireless security cameras. More and more things are using wireless!

Assessing My Insurance Needs

In thinking about my finances and trying to get them in order, I am also reassessing my insurance needs. Do I have enough insurance and the right kind? I have been doing some reading on the topic and still have some research to do. I know about whole life insurance, but now I am hearing about the type with immediate annuities. Wondering if that is something that would benefit me? I need to do more research before I buy. I am headed in the right financial direction, and I want to continue on that path!

Jewelry Shopping--Always Fun!

I was in Jackson Hole recently and spent quite some time shopping around town. I hesitate to spend money on shopping while out of town, because sometimes I see adorable things and buy them, but then don't use them when I get back home. But I saw some really great jewelry, and I couldn't help myself. I bought some things for myself, and also saw some cute promise ring finger. I think they are big with young people now. They were very pretty--I particularly liked the silver ones.

Typos Can Kill Online Revenue

As a longtime and excellent proofreader, I was glad to see this article. Too many times people pooh pooh proofreading and the problems that a single typo can cause. This article says that typos can kill online revenue, because it hurts credibility. This makes me wonder about some online businesses' mentality. I went to a workshop once about making money online, and the speaker was saying how you should put logical misspellings of your product type on the website, so that when people type it in wrong on the search engine, they will still find you. I was appalled! That guy is a dufus! Yes, you might get some customers that way, but I think you would turn off many more by this tactic. Who would trust a website that can't even get its own product category name spelled right? Thank you, but no. As an editor and proofreader, I will not pander to low hanging fruit.

I Have Gotten Several Cute Bridal Shower Invitations

I am invited to two weddings to be held soon, and they sent out the cutest bridal shower invitations, They also sent out some save the dates cards, which were also cute. But these bridal shower invitations were very clever, and made the event seem more like a party than just a bridal shower. No one wants to go to the typical boring bridal shower anymore--they want more like a cocktail party situation, at least that is what seems to me. Anyway, I got the invitations and now I have to buy some gifts. I hope I can be as clever in finding the gifts as they were in choosing the invitations.

Casey Anthony Jury Starts Deliberation

I have been glued to my TV and all of my DVRed installments of the Casey Anthony live trial. Such televised trials are a boon to a new lawyer like me. I don't have time to go and watch trials in my own town, and I need to learn trial strategy. This trial is why I got a DVR, and boy have I used it.

I really like Jeff Ashton, and think he is supberb, but was surprised sthat he was admonished for smiling or laughing during Jose Baez's closing arguments. Even I know you shouldn't do that, just from my brief moment in moot court, so surely he would know that after 30 years of experience,  But he seeemed to recover himself well this morning, in his rebuttal closing arguments. So that is good.

The trial is over, and the jury is deliberating. Some things to watch: if the jury reaches a verdict very quickly, that would typically be bad news for Casey Anthony. Verdicts reached quickly are usually guilty ones.

And when the jury walks back in the courtroom, if they don't like at Casey directly, that would also be bad news for Casey. Juries don't like to look at defendants who they have judged as guilty.
